Dan Walton, standing on the left with actor Andy Devine, worked at the Tribune Publishing Company for 43 years and retired as the sports editor of the Tacoma News Tribune in 1964. Walton began his career as a reporter writing for the Ledger in 1921. He joined the Tacoma News Tribune in 1937 and retired as the sports editor of the TNT 27 years later. Walton, who died in 1976, was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Hall of Fame in 1968. Devine played in popular cowboy movies and was known for his distinctive, crackly voice. Devine appeared with Walton at a TAC Hall of Fame banquet.Lexicon
