Description

Earl Averill played in the major leagues for the Cleveland Indians (1929-39), Detroit Tigers (1939-40) and Boston Braves (1941) and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975. Averill had a .318 batting average (hitting .300 or better eight times) with 238 home runs and 1,164 RBIs in 1,669 games in a 13-year major league career. He finished his career by playing 78 games for the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League in 1941.
