Jerry Geehan, a 1930 graduate of Lincoln High School, was a longtime sports broadcaster for KVI radio and was considered to be the dean of sports broadcasting in the Tacoma community. After attending the College of Puget Sound for two years in the early 1930s, he began his long and successful broadcasting career at KVI Radio in 1932. In 1937, he became the first broadcaster for the Tacoma Tigers and in 1938 he joined KMO Radio as the Tigers first play-by-play broadcaster. He also had a daily sports radio show. He became KMO's sales manager in 1943 and in 1952 he became the general manager of Channel 13 TV. From 1952-69, he was the owner and general manager of KTAC Radio. Many of Tacoma's great sportscasters got their start under Geehan. They were Clay Huntington, Rod Belcher, Doug McArthur, Bob Robertson, Don Hill, Art Popham and Bill O'Meara.Lexicon
