Frank Stojack sits with his teammates before his football practice. Stojack, who grew up in Tacoma, played two years in the NFL with the Brooklyn Dodgers after graduating from Washington State University in the early 1930s. Stojack turned to professional wrestling when his football days were over and during the mid 1950s he was the light heavyweight champion of the world. He was elected to the Tacoma city council in 1953 and he continued to wrestle professionally. He was then elected Pierce County sheriff and he served until 1960s. When he died in 1987, he left $300,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of America. Photo by Associated Press.Lexicon
