Tacoma's Frank Stojack had the speed and skill to play in the NFL after playing for Washington State University in the early 1940s. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the NFL for two years. He also played in the CFL and for a semi pro football team, the Boeing Aero Mechanics. He then became a professional wrestler and defeated Gypsy Joe in Spokane in 1953 to become the light heavyweight champion of the world and held that title until 1957. He was elected to the Tacoma city council in 1953 and became a Pierce County Sheriff and served until 1962.Lexicon
