Freddie Steele, who was born in Seattle, won the world's middleweight championship July 11, 1936 in Seattle in professional boxing when he defeated Babe Risko of New York. Two years later, Steele, who was nicknamed the Tacoma Assassin, lost the championship when Al Hostak of the Northwest beat him. 1036 Middleweight title.
