In this color photo taken in the 1930s, world middleweight boxing champion Freddie Steele of Seattle stands by his manager, Dave Miller. Steele got an early start in boxing and had already fought nine pro fights at just 13 years old. He won the world middleweight championship in 1936 and held that title for two years. He quit fighting at age 25 and became an actor in Hollywood, starring in many movies. G.I. Joe was one of his memorable films.
