Description

Bob MacDonald, a Seattle native, played in the Cheney Studs organization in the 1960s and went on to serve as coach in 1967-68. As a pitcher, MacDonald was part of the 1966 Studs team that finished second at the All-Amateur Baseball Classic (AABC) National Tournament with a record of 38-11. MacDonald was second on the team with a 2.43 ERA and an 8-1 record. He followed that season with a 2.50 ERA and 6-1 record for the 40-3 Studs team in 1967, and had a 2.53 ERA for the 1969 team that won the league championship. The 1970 Studs, which won the WIL Championship and were 39-7, also saw MacDonald move to the relief role. MacDonald led the league with four saves and was 3-3 with a 2.19 ERA. MacDonald also played for the 1963 Seattle Giants. He coached collegiately at the University of Washington and the Naval Academy for 23 seasons, compiling a 600-474-10 record and winning six league titles and advancing to the NCAA Tournament four times.
