Former Seattle Sounders coach John Best, left, shakes hands with Tacoma Stars standout forward Steve Zungul. Best was the first coach for the expansion Sounders of the North American Soccer League from 1974-76, compiling a 43-26 record. Best became general manager of the Sounders in 1982, the season Seattle advanced to the NASL championship game, losing to the New York Cosmos. Best founded Tacoma Indoor Soccer, Inc., which became the ownership group of the Tacoma Stars of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
