Baseball legend Leo Durocher, left, is with Joe Macaluso at the Tacoma Athletic Commission Sports Hall of Fame banquet in 1965. Durocher, a three-time All-Star and four-time World Series champion as a shortstop, managed the Brooklyn Dodgers (1939-46, 1948), New York Giants (1948-55), Chicago Cubs (1966-72) and Houston Astros (1972-73). Durocher compiled a 2,008-1,709 record as a manager and was inducted by the Veterans Committee into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994. Macaluso was honored at the 39th annual Tacoma Golden Gloves in 1987 for his multiple contributions to the event, including his noteworthy work as a referee. Macaluso, a Puyallup High School graduate, later served as president of the TAC in 1998.
