Description

David West races to victory in the 1968 Soap Box Derby race finals at Tacoma's soap box derby. West's car that he and his father made is now on display at the Shanaman Sports Museum. By winning the Tacoma race, West qualified to race at nationals in Akron, Ohio, where qualifiers from across the country raced. Three races from Washington have won the national race in the first 80 years of the race.
