Holding his championship trophy in 1966, Tacoma's David Krussow sits in his homemade soap box derby car with his parents standing by him in Akron, Ohio. After winning the Tacoma regional soap box derby, Krussow won the national championships in 1966. The soap box derby began in 1934 in Akron and has been held nearly every year since. It was only interrupted by World War II.
