Description

This is a 7-inch doll of a Tacoma Rockets hockey player, believed to be from the 1950s. The doll holds a stick and has black hair and a knitted sweater with an orange number 6, orange pants, black gloves and skates. The Rockets played in the Pacific Coast Hockey League from 1946-52 and the Western Hockey League for the 1952-53 season before returning to the WHL in 1991. The Rockets were coached by Murray “Muzz” Patrick, the son of Stanley Cup winner and Hockey Hall of Fame member Lester Patrick. The Lester Patrick Trophy, awarded for outstanding contributions to hockey in the United States, is named for him Muzz Patrick went on to coach the New York Rangers for parts of four seasons from 1953 to 1963.
