Aaron Pointer, who was a head linesman ref in the NFL from 1978 to 1987, stands smiling prior to an NFL game with his famous sisters, the Pointer Sisters.” Before he became a NFL ref, Pointer played pro baseball for 10 years, helping the 1969 Tacoma Cubs win the Pacific Coast League championship. In 1961, Pointer hit .402 in the minor leagues for Class A Salisbury in the Western Carolina League. He's the last player to bat over .400 for a season. He batted .208 over three seasons with the Houston Astros. After baseball, he began officiating at the recreation level in 1971 and moved up to high school and college. He joined the NFL in 1987 and retired in 2003. The Pointer Sisters won three Grammy Awards and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. They had 13 top 20 hits between 1973 and 1985. Pointer, who was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1942, was inducted into the Tacoma Hall of Fame in 2008.Lexicon
