Description

Wearing his Pacific Coast Club track singlet, Mac Wilkins holds a discus. He was at the top of his game in '76, qualifying for the Olympics and winning gold. Wilkins attended Clover Park High before moving to Beaverton, Oregon, to finish high school and then going on to become a Northwest sports legend. He won an NCAA discus title for the Oregon Ducks. After winning gold at the '76 Games he earned silver in 1984 and finished fifth in ‘88. Team USA boycotted the 1980 Olympics in the Soviet Union, likely costing Wilkins another medal. In 1980 he had the best throw of his career - 70.98 meters.
