Gordy Giovanelli of Everett, Bob Will of Seattle, Bob Martin of Tacoma, Warren Westlund of Olympia, and coxswain Allen Morgan won a gold medal at the 1948 Olympics. The team Switzerland by four seconds in the finals and Denmark won bronze. The victory is credited for generating the support needed to build a new rowing facility at the University of Washington, where the men were teammates.
