Steele, who was nicknamed “The Tacoma Assassin,” was a middleweight champ in boxing during the 1930s and a famous actor in the 1940s. Steele was born to box. By the time he was just 13, he had already fought nine pro fights. He defeated world middleweight champ Babe Risko to take the title on July 11, 1936. On July 26, 1938, Steele lost his middleweight title to Al Hostak in his next to last fight, losing by a first-round knockout at Seattle's Civic Arena. In the 1940s, Steele appeared in numerous Hollywood movies. Crosby was a famous and popular singer who appeared in many movies and was a friend of Steele's.Lexicon
