Steele (back row, left) is standing by movie stars Mae West, George Raft and Davie Miller. Steele had a successful pro boxing career, winning the middleweight championship in 1936 and losing only two fights in his first 10 years of boxing. Freddie Steele, who was nicknamed the Tacoma Assassin for his knockout punches in pro boxing, got into acting after he retired from boxing at age 25 in 1937.
