Description

Ray Ferraro, a Hartford Whalers draft pick from the town of Trail, British Columbia, Canada, was a two-time 40-goal scorer who amassed nearly 900 points in an 18-season NHL career. Hartford selected Ferraro in the 1982 Draft after he scored 65 goals and notched 135 points for Penticton of the BC Junior Hockey League. Ferraro moved on to the Western Hockey League where he helped Portland win the 1983 Memorial Cup then scored 108 goals in 72 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings in 1983-84. Ferraro, shown during his playing days as a captain for the Islanders in his Topps Stadium Club trading card, notched 30 goals during the Whalers return to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 1985-86 and had a career-high 41 goals in 1988-89. He was named to the NHL All-Star Game in 1992 and finished his career with 408 goals, 490 assists in 1,258 games.
