Description

Arguably one of the all-time favorites of Vancouver Canucks fans, Trevor Linden was an incredibly gifted junior player, he won a Memorial Cup trophy in 1988 and named to the all-tournament team, the talented center had a stellar NHL career — mostly with Vancouver. As an 18-year-old rookie in 1988-89, Linden, who the Canucks selected as the No. 2 overall draft pick, scored 30 goals and then had four straight 30-plus goal seasons. He was named captain in 1991, a role he held for seven seasons. Linden played phenomenally for Vancouver during its 1994 Stanley Cup playoff run. He finished with 25 points in 24 games, with the last two goals coming in Game 7 of the Cup final — Vancouver wound up losing to New York Rangers 3-2. Linden’s best season came in 1995-96 when he had career highs in assists (47) and points (80) and his NHL-best 33 goals. He was named the King Clancy Award winner (community service), an NHL All-Star (1991, 92), NHL All-Rookie Team (1989) and won the NHL Foundation Player Award in 2007-08. Linden was traded to the New York Islanders, then Montreal and Washington before ending his career back in Vancouver where he finished his career in 2008. He amassed 867 points in 1,382 games during his career.
