Here is a black-and-white photo of the 1904 Tacoma Tigers baseball team. They were the first Tacoma team to win the Pacific Coast League championship. The Tigers got off to a good start as they had just moved from Sacramento to Tacoma after the 1903 season. In 1904, the Tigers finished seven games ahead of the second place runner up, the Los Angeles Angels. However, in 1905 the Tigers won the first half of the season and then moved back to Sacramento to finish out the season. They then became the Sacramento Solons and lost the playoff series to the Angels. The PCL did not return to Tacoma for 55 years. But the city did have the Tacoma Tigers, who played in the Western International league from the 1930s to 1951. The Tacoma Tigers played in the Pacific Northwest League from 1898 to 1902. Then the Tigers switched to the Pacific National League from 1898 to 1902 and the Pacific National League in 1903 and the Pacific Coast League in 1905 and the Northwestern League from 1906 to 1917.Lexicon
