Description

Mike Blowers was a standout infielder at Bethel High, Tacoma Community College and the University of Washington before beginning a pro ball career. He debuted in the majors with the New York Yankees but made his greatest mark close to home with the Seattle Mariners. Blowers was a key figure in the first Mariners team to make the MLB playoffs in 1995. He was on the 1995 American League West Division Championship Team. During the breakthrough season, Blowers played third base for Seattle, hitting 23 home runs and driving in 96, both career highs. He finished his major league career with a .257 batting average, 78 home runs and 365 RBI over 11 seasons. Blowers is a member of the Tacoma Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame.
