Description

Jay Stricherz of Tacoma used this whistle while officiation college football games for 35 years. Stricherz, a 1965 Franklin Pierce graduate, officiated 21 college bowl games, the final one being when he was the referee for the Capital One Bowl between Wisconsin and South Carolina on Jan. 1, 2014, a 34-24 win for the Gamecocks. His first bowl game was the 1990 All-America Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., between Southern Mississippi and North Carolina State. Southern Mississippi’s quarterback was Brett Favre.
