Description

Marv Rickert grew up on the Key Peninsula and went to Vaughn High School. He played for the Tacoma Tigers in the Western International League before he was purchased by the Chicago Cubs in August 1941. He debuted in the major leagues in 1942 before World War II interrupted his baseball career. He returned to the majors in 1946 and played for the Cubs, Reds, Braves (in picture, 1949), Pirates and White Sox. He batted .247 with 19 home runs and 145 RBI in 1,149 at bats over six seasons. As an 18-year-old in 1939 with the Boise Pilots and Tacoma Tigers, Rickert batted .357 with 14 home runs in 409 at bats.
