In 1961, Gaylord Perry pitched one season with the Tacoma Giants when he led the Pacific Coast League in wins and innings pitched. After a brief 13-game call up to the Major Leagues in 1962, Perry returned to Tacoma. From 1962 to 1983, Perry pitched for seven teams and concluded his illustrious 21-year MLB career with the Seattle Mariners and picked up his 300th career victory in 1982, earning him the nickname “Ancient Mariner.” Later that season, he became the third pitcher in MLB history to throw 3,500 strikeouts. He was elected to MBL's Hall of Fame in 1991 and Sporting News ranked him 97th on their list of 100 Greatest Baseball Players.
