Description

Former Seattle Seahawk Paul Skansi, being chased by an Oakland Raiders defender, was no stranger to out-running defenders during his football career. That career started at Peninsula High School where he teamed with quarterback Steve Hunt in 1978 and had 1,506 receiving yards as Peninsula won the Class 2A state football championship. Skansi played for the University of Washington from 1979-83 where he set a then-school record of 138 career receptions. Drafted in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Skansi signed as a free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 1984 he played eight years, finishing with 166 catches for 1,950 yards. Skansi might be most famous for Husky fans for a diving catch over WSU’s Nate Bradley in the 1981 Apple Cup that turned the game in Washington’s favor. Skansi was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
