Marv Tommervik (left) stands with Marv Harshman, who became a legendary coach. Tommervik and Harshman were teammates on the Pacific Lutheran College's football team in the 1940s. They were known as the “Marvelous Mar's.” After graduating from PLC, Harshman coached college basketball in Washington for 40 years, beginning at Pacific Lutheran College in 1945 and concluding at the University of Washington in 1985. In between those two colleges, Harshman coached at Washington State University from 1958 to 1971. Tommervik was selected in 2013 to the Pac-12 Football Officials Association's Field of Honor, an award he received after refereeing 20 years. He officiated two Rose Bowls (1971 and 1975) and two East-West games. He also served as the president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission.
