Description

The Tacoma Stars played their inaugural season in the Major Indoor Soccer League during the 1983-84 campaign. The Stars finished with a 22-26 record, finishing fifth out of six teams in the Western Division. Among the players on the Stars' roster that season was midfielder Chris Hellenkamp, a graduate of Stadium High School. Hellenkamp, who played as a youth for the Tacoma Kickers, was the No. 9 overall pick in the first round by the Portland Timbers in the 1980 North American Soccer League draft. The former Seattle Pacific University star made six appearances for the Stars during the 1983-84 season.
