Description

Stan Naccarato speaks with two Army officers at a Tacoma Athletic Commission's Sports Hall of Fame banquet in the late 1960s or the early 1970s. In 1971 when the Chicago Cubs pulled their Triple-A minor league team out of Tacoma, Naccarato led a group of local businessmen in rescuing a minor league for Tacoma. In just 16 hours, Naccarato and 19 other businessmen raised $100,000 needed to bring a Triple A team back to Tacoma. He remained closed connected with the team and he was named the Minor League General Manager of the Year in 1975. Nacarrato, a 1946 graduate from Clover Park High School, signed with the Cincinnati Reds after high school and he pitched four years on a semi-pro baseball team and compiled a 33-10 record. But a shoulder injury ended his career.
