Royal Brougham, Dan Walton and Hugh MacElhenny are among the men in this black-and-white photo of the Tacoma Athletic Commission's annual sports hall of fame banquet. Brougham, starting at age 16, worked for 68 years primarily as a sports editor and sportswriter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. In 1968, Brougham stepped down as the PI's sports editor but continued to write for them for 10 more yeas. After playing football at the University of Washington, MacElenny was a running back in the NFL from 1952 to 1964, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Walton worked 43 years at the Tacoma News Tribune and retired as the newspapers sports editor in 1964. Also in this black-and-white photo are Joe E. Brown, John Sherberg and Al Albrickson.
