NFL legend Joe Namath, left, appeared at a Tacoma Athletic Commission event in 1969, the same year he successfully guaranteed he’d lead the New York Jets to a victory over the Baltimore Colts in the third AFL-NFL Championship Game (later renamed Super Bowl III). In this image, the future NFL Hall of Famer poses with Tacoma businessman Joe Macaluso (center) and fellow AFL/NFL quarterback John Hadl. Hadl was a Pro Bowl quarterback who won an AFL title with the San Diego Chargers in 1963.
