A place card shows a spot reserved for another special guest, all-star baseball player Maury Wills. O’Connell, born in Tacoma, served three terms as Washington’s attorney general. Andy Gilbert was manager of the Tacoma Giants. Albert Rosellini was Washington’s governor, 1957-65. Bill Gazecki was a Tacoma businessman who supported local sports and launched an animal shelter. Harry McCarthy was ticket manager for the Tacoma Giants. Don Hill was a longtime Tacoma broadcaster who was the play-by-play voice of the Tacoma Giants and Tacoma Cubs.
