Jim Rondeau (right) shakes hands with Jack Dempsey in this photo that both of them autographed. In a long and successful career as a boxing referee, Rondeau refereed many world championship bouts and also was involved and committed to the amateur ranks. In 1949, Rondeau refereed the first Tacoma Golden Gloves matches and he worked every scheduled Golden Gloves tournaments in Tacoma, Seattle and Portland from 1946 to 1948. Dempsey, nicknamed the “Manassa Mauler,” was the world heavyweight boxing champ from 1919-26.
