Stan Naccarato is seated on the left and sits with five other members of the Tacoma Athletic Commission in a photo take back in the 1950s. Naccarato was a successful businessman in Tacoma who was a longtime supporter of amateur and professional sports in Tacoma. Sitting next to Naccarato is Morley Brotman, a longtime sports enthusiast who encouraged the construction of the Tacoma Dome. Others in this black-and-white photo are seated, L-R: Naccarato, Brotman. Standing: Hank Semmeran, Bill Rohrs, Frank Ruffo and Joe Macaluso. Semmeran was president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission and a longtime supporter. Like Naccarato, Ruffo also played baseball. He played 12 years with the Cammarano Bros in a Tacoma city league and played on a team that finished fifth at nationals in 1937. Naccarato, who pitched in the minor leagues, came up with perhaps his biggest save in 1971 when he brought together financial support from local businessmen and saved Triple-A baseball in Tacoma and secured an affliliation with the Minnesota Twins. Naccarato, who died in 2016 at age 88, was the former president and general manager of the Tacoma's Triple-A teams when they were the Tacoma Twins, Tacoma Yankees, Tacoma Tugs and Tacoma Tigers. Naccarato, who was born and raised in Tacoma, was an outstanding athlete while attending Clover Park High School, graduating in 1946. He pitched for three years in minor league baseball until an injury to his shoulder cut his career short. In three years of pitching in the minor leagues, he had a 33-10 record.Lexicon
