Description

This is a color photo of the 1975 Tacoma Twins. After the 1971 season, the Chicago Cubs took their 3A minor league baseball team out of Tacoma. Stan Naccarato and Clay Huntington, two prominent local businessmen, then led a group of local investors and they purchased a Triple A minor league team and secured an affiliation with the Minnesota Twins. Through six seasons, the Tacoma Twins compiled a 422-441 record with no league championships. During that six-year stretch, infielder Rick Renick slammed 72 home runs in a four-year stretch, giving him the most career home runs in franchise history. In 1977, first baseman Randy Bass hit .321 with 25 home runs and 117 RBI. Bass belted four home runs in one game in a game at Phoenix. He is one of only six players in Pacific Coast League to hit four or more runs in one game. Craig Kusick was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues with the Minnesota Twins in 1973. In 1977, Randy Bass made the Minnesota Twins as a first baseman. In his six seasons in the major leagues, Bass, who was elected to the Oklahoma senate when he stopped playing baseball, played for five teams and ended his career playing in Japan and became the first player to bat over .400 and finished with a .389 average for the season.
