Description

A lucky fisherman holds up a prize winning salmon he caught in the annual Tacoma Athletic Commission's salmon derby fundraiser. Since TAC started in 1945, it was raised and donarted more $6 million to local youth sports programs. The salmon derby was part of that fund raising. For 75 years now, the TAC, which now has more than 275 dedicated members, has been supportive of amateur and youth sports in the Pierce County. A popular program TAC puts on each year is the Athlete of the Year awards that are given to athletes in 23 sports at 34 high schools. Over the years, TAC has been dedicated to youth sports, supporting it with volunteers, financial support, publicity and encouragement. The TAC also supports events put on by other organizations, including WIAA's state championships, and tournaments hosted by Metro Parks, Pierce County Parks, high schools, colleges, and sports clubs.
