Description

A black and white photograph of legendary coach John Heinrick in a striped suit and sitting at a desk. He is known as one of the all-time great coaches in Tacoma history having managed several baseball teams to come from the area. Heinrick coached the 1934 Pacific Match team and the Johnson Paint team that played in the 1937 National Baseball Congress tournament; this was the first time a Tacoma based team traveled beyond the West Coast to participate in a national tournament. Heinrick had an extensive career in the area coaching the semipro Tacoma Tigers, serving as president of the City League, served as athletic director at Stadium High School as well as spent time as a coach and athletic director at the University of Puget Sound.
