Description

Jumping over a defender, Mike Levenseller pulls down a pass to give the Washington State Cougars another first down. After an all-state performance at Curtis High School, where he graduated in 1974, Levenseller became a Pac-8 All-Conference and AP All-West Coast first-time receiver at WSU. During his junior year at WSU, Levenseller caught 67 passes to break school and conference records. In the 1978 NFL draft, the Oakland Raiders drafted Levenseller in the sixth round. During his three-year NFL career, he played for the Raiders, Buffalo, Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. He then played in the Canadian Football League, winning a Grey Cup with Edmonton in 1982. After coaching in the CFL from 1986-91, he began a long coaching stretch with WSU. Levenseller was inducted into the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Pacific Northwest Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
