Description

Mount Tahoma High School graduate Vince Goldsmith played with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League and had a remarkable career. Goldsmith won the CFL Rookie of the Year award in 1981, earned All-Western Conference honors four times and All-CFL honors in 1981 and 1983. He was MVP of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1983 and ranks third all-time in quarterback sacks in the CFL with 130. Goldsmith, who played for a Grey Cup in 1989, was just as productive in high school and college. Goldsmith played both football and track and field at Mount Tahoma, twice earning all-city honors and was an All-America pick in 1977 as a defensive lineman, and was named to the Washington State High school Football Team of the Century. That drew the attention of the University of Oregon where Goldsmith earned MVP honors in 1979 and 1980 and was named second-team All-America as a DL in 1980.
