The skiers in this black-and-white photo are identified as (from left to right) Wiegel, Tom Heard, J. Collins, an unidentified skier, and Carl Tiege. They were skiing down the Alta Vista slope, which is just above Paradise. The Silver Skis race began at Camp Muir at 10,000 feet and finished at Paradise at 5,400 feet. Skiers would reach speeds of 60 miles an hour.
