The University of Washington’s coxed four team won the national title in 1948 and went on to claim gold at the London Olympics on the River Thames. The team included Bob Martin of Tacoma who entered 15 races that season and won them all. Other members of the team include Warren Westlund of Olympia, Bob Will of Seattle, Gordy Giovanelli of Everett and coxswain Allen Morgan of Seattle. The teammates remained lifelong friends.
