Jo-Jo White played 878 games for the Detroit Tigers (1932-38), Philadelphia A's (1943-44) and Cincinnati Reds (1944). White also played for the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League from 1939-42 and 1946-48 (serving as player/manager from 1946-48 and manager in 1949) before embarking on a long career as a scout, minor league manager and big league coach. On Aug. 3, 1960, White served as interim manager of the Cleveland Indians after the team traded Joe Gordon for Detroit's Jimmy Dykes in a straight-up swap of managers. White managed the Indians to a 7-4 win over the Washington Senators. White died in Tacoma on Oct. 9, 1986 at age 77. Mike White played 100 games for the Houston Astros from 1963-65 before playing in the Pacific Coast League -- 39 games for the Seattle Angels in 1966 and 100 games for the Tacoma Cubs from 1967-69.
