Description

Twelve players and two coaches from an unidentified Little League team pose for a team photo. Little League Baseball was founded as a three-team league in Williamsport, Pa., in 1939. The league expanded to include a Little League World Series in 1947 in Williamsport which currently receives national television coverage and features eight teams from the United States and eight from around the world. Among the LLWS players who went on to play in the major leagues were retired Seattle Mariners catcher Dan Wilson, who played for Barrington, Ill., and catcher Jason Varitek, who played for Altamonte Springs, Fla., before becoming the No. 14 overall pick by the Mariners in 1994.
