Description

With one boxer up against the ropes, referee Jim Rondeau breaks up two boxers. From the late 1940s to the 1970s, Rondeau refereed boxing matches around the world. His biggest match was the heavyweight championship fight between George Foreman and Ken Norton in 1974 in Venezuela, which Foreman won in two rounds. Rondeau, who was born in Bremerton in 1918 and was a lifelong resident of the Puget Sound area, had the reputation of being fair in the ring. In addition to refereeing, Rondeau was appointed to the Washington State Boxing commission in 1962.
