Description

Jim Rondeau is among the players in this picture of the 1936 varsity state champion football team. Rondeau would go on to referee boxing from 1946 to 1968. Besides refereeing every Golden Gloves tournament in Tacoma, Seattle and Portland, he also refereed top local pro fights that included several heavyweight fights featuring Pat McMurtry, Boone Kirkman and Jerry Quarry. From 1970 to 1974, Rondeau refereed four titles bouts abroad. That included the heavyweight title fight between George Foreman and Ken Norton in Caracas, Venezuela. Rondeau was been inducted into the Washington State Boxing Hall of Fame and the Pacific Northwest Hall of Fame. In 1966, Rondeau was elected vice president of the International Boxing Federation.
