Description

1914 team photo “Champions NW League” with the “V” on the Vancouver team uniform. Oscar Theander Harstad (b. 1892-d. 1985), third from right in the back row, was a standout pitcher for the team, as the right-hander spent one season with the Cleveland Indians. Harstad was born on May 24, 1892 in Parkland, Washington where he spent most of his life. He attended the Pacific Lutheran Academy preparatory school in Tacoma, Washington. Harstad spent six seasons as a professional, with five of them coming in the NW League minor leagues. He finished with a career 3.55 earned run average and a 36-20 overall record in the NW League.
