Joe Salatino was a three-sport standout at Bellarmine Prep before graduating in 1931. After graduating from Bellarmine, he played quarterback for Santa Clara University and earned a spot on the annual East-West Shrine game in 1935 and on the annual game between the Chicago Bears and College All-Stars that same year. He later played basketball for the Pacific Northwest champ, the Alt Heidelberg team. In 1937, he played on the Johnson Paint baseball team that took fifth place at the national semi-pro tournament in Wichita, Kan. Salatino later played baseball for the Shipbuilders Athletic Club in 1944, the K Street team in 1949 and he made occasional appearances with the Oldtimers clubs in the 1950s.Lexicon
