Description

Legendary Marv Harshman (No. 4 in white shirt at right) was in the thick of things for the Tacoma Mountaineers of the Pacific Coast Professional Basketball League in the team’s one season. The Mountaineers built an overall record of 21-24 in 1947-48, but failed to gain much interest from fans. Harshman, a forward, was a multi-sport star at Pacific Lutheran before World War II, then became a basketball coaching legend at PLU, Washington State and with the Washington Huskies. The Mountaineers produced an all-league player in forward John Katica before they folded after one season.
