1947 Tacoma bowling team sponsored by the Tacoma Athletic Club. Standing from left to right are Dick McNerthney, Red Wakefield, Ed Valish, Kelcy Allen and Primo Artoe. Artoe was an avid bowler and bowled on a Tacoma team that completed in the American Bowling Congress tournament in Atlantic City in 1949. That team was the Tacoma Elks champions. In addition to being an outstanding bowler, Artoe was also a top notched pitcher for the North Pacific baseball team and his brother Leo played pro football for the Los Angeles Dons and the Chicago Bears.
