Clarence was a bread salesman who loved boxing. He helped launch his son's successfully professional boxing career by giving Pat boxing gloves for Christmas when he was 6. Pat fought in the first Golden Gloves tournaments in Tacoma in 1949 and went on to have a successful professional boxing career, fighting many top-ranked boxers. He had an impressive 33-4 record as a pro fighter and 103-2 as an amateur.Lexicon
